Hippos at dawn! (Eirian)

... it was actually hippos in the middle of the night, but I don't think that sounds as catchy!


After a good evening talking, sharing and laughing with colleagues, we took ourselves off to bed (did I mention how gorgeous the beds are?) ready for a good night's sleep.


I was woken, at about 4.30am by the most incredible noise outside the window - at first I thought it was lions, but then realised there aren't any in this area!


I got up, and went out on my balcony, to see two ENORMOUS hippos fighting right outside! They were growling a bit, then one would charge at the other, then they would re-take the same aggressive stance - my impression of cuddly hippos was completely blown away!


There were also about 15 other hippos grazing on the lawn quite happily. It was incredible to stand and watch them. Eventually one of the security staff (very bravely) came out with a flashlight and a big stick, and chased them away.


Not something to forget in a hurry!
