We are (we know!) very lucky to be able to go to Kenya, but why are we going?
The answer is a British Council project called Connecting Classrooms .
Back in January, we completed (with the help of the wonderful advisor from Cardiff LEA), forms requesting to join the Connecting Classrooms project, and to link up with schools from Sub-Saharan Africa.
To our absolute delight, we were successful in our bid, and I (Eirian Thomas of Cathays High School), and Mike Parsons (of Roath Park Primary School) will be flying out to Kenya, to Nairobi to be exact, in order to go to Naivasha, and set up the partnerships. Angharad Jones (of Grangetown Nursery School) is staying behind for this trip ... but we intend keeping in touch through this blog.
As yet, we don't know which 2 other countries we will be linking up with, although the list is as follows, and you can have a look who you would like to be partnered with ...
- Ethiopia
- Ghana
- Kenya
- Malawi
- Nigeria
- Rwanda
- Sierra Leone
- South Africa
- Sudan
- Tanzania
- Uganda
- Zambia
We are collecting together lots of things that represent us, our schools, and our country, and we are looking forward to introducing you to the mascots of our 3 schools, and showing you lots of photos of our trip!
Hwyl Fawr!
Eirian
Glad you arrived safely.
ReplyDeleteHope that the journey was not to bad. Looking forward to seeing what the school mascots get up to on their Travels abroad... i must admit i am a little concerned for the giraffe, mind you I actually think the Dragon that usually lives on Mrs Thomas's printer is probably less at risk from the Hippo than the usual stuff on the printer!!!!!
